Working together to close the financial gap, supporting formalization and raising awareness in mining communities through mercury-free extraction technology and engagement with formal markets, the program seeks to show the way for cleaner and more small-scale artisanal mining, that benefits everyone, from the mine to the market.

Fairmined is gold that, in addition to having been extracted under the strict standards of the Fairmined Certification, considering social development, fair treatment and equitable payment. it also considers a further step in eliminating the use of mercury or cyanide in the extraction process. This gold is not only responsible with human rights, but also with the environment and the Amazon.

The Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) was founded in 2004 and is the organization that leads the issue of Artisanal and small-scale mining worldwide. They work to transform the sector into a socially and environmentally responsible activity, while improving the quality of life for small-scale artisanal miners, their families, and communities.
